Local Business Promotes Entrepreneurship and New Business Creation with 13th Annual Business Plan Competition:
For another year, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Allentown, and Reading took part in the 13th Annual Business Plan Competition. Shawn Mera, Owner and General Manager of New Horizons, acted a co-chair in this community event for the second year. Community leaders come together every year to organize and participate as judges in this annual Business Plan competition. With a sold-out crowd for the event – this year proved to be the best ever with a new crowd sourcing “wild-card”, where you were able to speak to, and vote for, your chosen team.
By donating services, resources, time and more each year, New Horizons invests in our community and help to sustain a knowledge-based economy in Northeastern PA. New Horizons is headquartered in Pittston and employs 35 individuals

Local Business Donates to The Luzerne Foundation, in support of their Youth Advisory Committee
New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Allentown, and Reading was recognized recently for donating to The Luzerne Foundation, in support of their Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) Fund of The Luzerne Foundation. New Horizons which is headquartered in Pittston and employs 35 individuals, frequently donates to area causes, to help strengthen and grow the local community.

Heightened connections create new opportunities for tech hires

Of all the hopelessly square phrases used to describe the Internet, "the information superhighway" is actually the most accurate. Like an infrastructure built out of roads, the Internet creates more opportunities the faster it is. By accelerating the pace at which data goes through broadband cables, we create more tech jobs. This is because fast data increases the number of ways that the Internet can be used. Think about the difference between old text-only bulletin board systems of the '70s and '80s and today's streaming video and music content. That kind of major change can only happen when people are able to use large amounts of data.
