Computerized Office Support Program

Objectives:

The Computerized Office Support Program is designed to provide students with beginning to advanced knowledge of all the Microsoft Office applications, with an intro to design and graphics.  The training provided in this program, will help students prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Exams.  As a MOS trained professional, they will be able to maintain, manage and format spreadsheets, create professional slide shows, manage email, manage a database environment, with forms and tables, and create or edit documents.  In the modern office, many clerical tasks must be performed in order to keep things running smoothly.  Office workers perform a variety of different tasks in support of general office, business, or administrative operations. To further advance the students knowledge, and prepare them for this computer environment, we are also instructing on the basics of visual communications, preparing students to create in-house flyers and marketing collateral.  This provides students with the knowledge and skills to maintain and assist in creating graphics and marketing materials for businesses or individuals alike.  Learning this information, will enhance the student’s skillset and make them well-rounded assets.  The knowledge acquired, will give students an advantage when entering a computer generated working environment and aid them in reaching their full potential within the life of their career.  Student will be marketable within several different types of companies and industries, who are hiring computer-ready employees.

It will help them to receive possible positions in Administrative Assistant & Secretaries, Office Clerk, Supervisor Office & Administrative Support, Customer Service Representative, Office Support, Marketing Assistant, Data Entry, Office Assistant, web development, and Microsoft Office Specialist.

NH103 Windows Level 1

This course will introduce the Windows 7 environment to students with little to no experience working with the Windows operating system. Students will be introduced to topics such as the start menu, the desktop, managing files, folders, and libraries, as well as options for customizing the Windows 7 environment.

Students will learn some of the more advanced techniques for working with the Windows 7 environment.  Topics such User Accounts and installing devices and printers, file management and protection techniques will be addressed. Students will also learn how to use utilities such as System Restore and configure networking in Windows 7.

In this course, students get started with Word; create, save, print, and edit documents; move and copy text; and use automatic text features.

In this course, students cover intermediate Word concepts and skills.  Students will use templates; use the mail merge function, create letters, envelopes, and labels; use styles and macros.

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to customize the PowerPoint application, and effectively create, collaborate on, secure, and distribute complex multimedia presentations for a variety of situations.

NH119 Project Level 1

This course teaches the basic commands and features of Microsoft Project. Students will learn how to create and modify task lists, establish a project schedule, create calendars, assign resources to tasks, track costs, and work with different views and tables. Students will also apply filters and groups, and sort task and resource data. Students will finish up the course with learning how to resolve resource conflicts.

In this course, students will learn about image copyright, identify the components of the Photoshop environment, learn about the differences between raster and vector graphics, and learn how to use Adobe Bridge.
